Congo DR intensifies preparations for WC playoff second leg in Casablanca

The Democratic Republic of Congo national team is pledging to give their all for supporters in the team’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff second leg against Morocco despite a disappointing 1-1 home result in the first leg. In an intense training session on Sunday, manager Héctor Cúper attempted to prepare his team for the potential drama of the second leg by conducting a penalty kick shootout at the end. If Congo DR are able to earn a 1-1 draw in Casablanca, a penalty kick shootout could be the difference between a berth in Qatar and watching the competition at home.

Congolese playmaker Gaël Kakuta rallied his teammates for the occasion by declaring the team’s intent to get the job done on social media. “Some want it to happen, some would like it to happen and some make it happen. We will give everything to make it happen” stated the RC Lens attacker as his team prepares to battle for the country’s first World Cup appearance since 1974.
