The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) had a multitude of complaints following Egypt’s elimination from 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying by Senegal in a penalty kick shootout on Tuesday. Objects being thrown on the pitch and at the team during warmups, assaults on the team bus and racist attacks were among the accusations as the EFA documented the incidents on social media.
Laser pointers also played a major role in the complaints as Egyptian players had to deal with numerous lasers being directed towards their eyes during the penalty kick shootout. FIFA stated that it is looking at the official match reports and it will be interesting to see if anything is done about the alleged abuses.
