CAFCC Group B: JS Saoura win not enough to sneak into top-2 as Orlando Pirates and Al-Ittihad draw

Orlando Pirates of South Africa and Libya’s Al-Ittihad are the teams who clinched advancement out of Group B in Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup following their 0-0 draw in Johannesburg. Pirates were by far the more threatening team as Ittihad attempted to get the draw they needed by putting numbers behind the ball and defending, but neither team was able to generate a single shot on goal. The Bucs finish at the top of Group B with thirteen points while Ittihad wrap up their group stage campaign with eleven points.

JS Saoura were also in South Africa on Sunday, facing Royal Leopards of Eswatini, and needed to get a win and hope that Ittihad lost in South Africa. The Algerian visitors found two goals within the opening ten minutes of the second half through Ismaïl Saadi and Oussama Bellatreche but it was not enough in the end as they remained with their Liswati opponents in the bottom-2 spots in Group B.

Highlights from both Group B matches are below.

Orlando Pirates (RSA) 0-0 Al-Ittihad (LBY)

Royal Leopards (ESW) 0-2 JS Saoura (ALG)
