Adlene Guedioura: Burton Albion release Algeria midfielder by mutual agreement

36-year-old Algerian national team defensive midfielder Adlene Guedioura and English League One side Burton Albion decided to part ways by mutual consent. The veteran had been at the third-tier English side on a short-term deal, scoring two goals in four appearances since joining at the end of February but deciding to not return to England following Algeria’s heartbreaking elimination against Cameroon in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Guedioura made a brief substitute appearance in the first leg in Cameroon and did not appear in the return leg in Algeria.
