2021 Africa Cup of Nations champions Senegal were drawn into a 2023 AFCON qualifying group that contains no teams that qualified for the edition in Cameroon but that does not mean the Lions of Teranga will encounter no resistance. Mozambique, Benin and Rwanda are all teams that have qualified for the AFCON in the past with Benin’s veteran side barely missing out on the last edition in Cameroon. Mozambique and Rwanda are teams that are rebuilding but are capable of getting results and playing the role of spoiler.
