Following his team’s failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and group stage exit at the 2021 Africa cup of Nations, it appeared that manager Djamel Belmadi would resign rather than carry on as Algeria manager. However, the 46-year-old has decided to carry on with his duties for 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying after widespread fan support was expressed due to his past record of success with the Fennecs. Belmadi discusses what he wants to see from the team moving forward as well as how he sees Algeria’s upcoming opponents in qualifying.
