Uganda national team left back Aziz Kayondo signs with Real Monarchs in United States

19-year-old Uganda national team left back Aziz Kayondo completed a transfer to Real Monarchs, the reserve team of Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake, on Wednesday evening. Joining from soon-to-be Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC, Kayondo’s name has been on the rise since featuring for Uganda at the 2020 African Nations Championship and starring for Uganda’s under-20 national team during their run to the final of the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. He was also named to the best eleven in the AFCON U-20 that took place in Mauritania.

The young talent was scouted and profiled here at Pan-Africa Football following his breakthrough with the Uganda national team. Kayondo is signed to an MLS Next Pro contract, meaning he will play for RSL’s reserve team Real Monarchs in the new development league for Major League Soccer that began its debut season in late March. The left back made twelve appearances for Vipers this season during their title-winning campaign in Ugandan football.
