Togo announce roster for AFCON qualifiers against Eswatini and Cape Verde

Portuguese coach Paulo Duarte named his team this week as the Sparrow Hawks of Togo get set to begin their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in Group B. Les Éperviers will host Eswatini on June 3 before heading over to Marrakech, Morocco for an away match four days later against Cape Verde who are unable to host matches due to a lack of a suitable home stadium by CAF standards.

Qatar Stars League leading scorer Kodjo Laba is the star to look out for in the Togo team as well as center back Dakonam Djene of Getafe in Spain’s La Liga. 33-year-old former Fulham FC winger Floyd Ayité is back in the squad after a year-long hiatus from representing Togo and newly recruited Ghanaian-born defenders Kennedy Boateng and Emmanuel Hackman also figure to play an important role after both players started for the team in recent friendlies against Sierra Leone and Benin.
