DR Congo national team forward Jackson Muleka signs with Besiktas

After an excellent spell on loan with Turkish Super League club Kasımpaşa during the second half of the 2021-22 season, Congolese striker Jackson Muleka completed a permanent transfer to Turkish football with Istanbul powerhouse Beşiktaş. The 25-year-old joins on a five-year contract from Belgian club Standard Liège after plenty of speculation that an agreement with English second tier side Burnley was imminent, but the former TP Mazembe star opted to stay in the country where he found his first taste of success in European football.

Encountering struggles at Standard during his second season in Belgium, Muleka joined Kasımpaşa on loan and exploded on the scene with twelve goals and two assists in fourteen matches including a stretch where he scored twelve goals in eleven games. Muleka scored 15 goals in 54 appearances for Standard during his time in Belgium after starring at Congolese giants TP Mazembe, where he was top scorer in the CAF Champions League during the 2019-20 season. The DR Congo national team forward joined Standard from Mazembe for €2.84 million and his transfer to Turkish football is for a reported €3.35 million.
