Two matches took place in Algeria’s Ligue 1 Professionnelle on Tuesday with the country’s two CAF Champions League participants, JS Kabylie and CR Belouizdad, both failing to find the goal. For now JS Kabylie supporters be relieved that their club is out of the relegation zone after a 0-0 draw at USM Khenchela was enough for the CAF Champions League quarterfinalists to move out of the bottom two positions in Algeria’s Ligue 1 Professionnelle. JSK are level on points with Paradou AC but hold the edge in the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Belouizdad encountered a difficult test against hosts MC Alger at the Stade 5 Juillet 1962 in Algiers but the league leaders escaped with a point. MCA looked more likely to score through the opening sixty minutes but failed to take advantage of their opportunities, including a free kick just outside the CRB penalty area close to halftime. CRB were dangerous in the final half hour and threatened on a couple of set pieces but could not find a way past MCA goalkeeper Oussama Latim.
