Al Ahly’s extended run of victories came to an end on Sunday but The Red Devils remain undefeated for the 2022-23 Egyptian Premier League season after a 0-0 draw at Future FC. Both teams had goals disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee for offsides in the first half but hosts Future were more fortunate to earn a point in the end. Ahly are two points clear of Pyramids FC at the top with four less matches played.
Elsewhere in the league over the weekend the focus turned to the other end of the table where the relegation battle continues to be suspenseful. El Dakhleya are eager to retain their Premier League status after earning promotion for the current campaign and took a large step forward with a 1-0 victory at Arab Contractors. Abdelaziz El Sayed converted a first half penalty kick to move the visitors to within a point of escaping the drop zone.
