Even if the result was not ideal for Al Ahly on Wednesday it was a celebratory occasion for the club and its supporters as Ahly were held to a 1-1 draw by last placed Haras El Hodood. The formal celebration of the Cairo club’s latest domestic league title took place at the Al Salam Stadium with latest signing Emam Ashour in attendance as well to celebrate with his new teammates.
The performance from the hosts on Wednesday was not very memorable with both teams struggling to create much in the first half. Ahly finally took the lead in the second half through Kahraba who fired in off the post following a battle for the ball in the Haras El Hodood penalty area.
However already relegated Haras El Hodood showed plenty of fight despite being dominated for long stretches and leveled the match ten minutes later when a cross from the right flank caused Ahly defender Khalid Abdullfatah to put the ball into his own goal. Kahraba appeared to save a victory for Ahly in the final moments but his apparent match winner was ruled out by VAR due to a handball.
