Since his success at the 2015 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations with Nigeria earned him a dream move to English Premier League side Liverpool FC at the age of 18, striker Taiwo Awoniyi has had to learn the value of patience. Spending seven spells on loan away from Liverpool in continental European leagues due to not being able to acquire a work permit to play in English football, Awoniyi has scored 34 goals in 137 appearances across time spent in German, Dutch and Belgian football but finally will have at least the opportunity to play for a spot in Liverpool’s vaunted squad.
BBC’s Oluwashina Okeleji reports in the link below that the powerful striker has finally obtained the necessary work permit to play in English football so that he can play for Liverpool or another English side, paving the way for perhaps a dream English Premier League debut.
