Benin and Sierra Leone meet Tuesday in Conakry, Guinea to determine final AFCON participation spot

A long anticipated day has come for the national teams of Benin and Sierra Leone following the postponement of their final Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match due to Covid-19 test controversy as the rescheduled match will take place on Monday to determine the final slot in the upcoming final tournament. The match will take place at a neutral location in Conakry, Guinea instead of in Freetown, Sierra Leone due to the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown being judged unsuitable for hosting. Sierra Leone will need either a 1-0 victory or to win by two goals if Benin scores during the match in order to earn their place at the AFCON.

Previews from both teams’ perspectives are below. Football Sierra Leone has the latest team news for the Leone Stars with pre-match comments from manager John Keister. BJ Foot’s Gérard Viwami analyzes the keys to the match and offers a probably starting lineup and tactical approach for Les Écureuils, stating that Benin must assume the role of favorite and not get into the trap of playing for a draw, an issue that has plagued the team due to their lack of scoring punch in the qualifying campaign.

Accompanying the previews from both sides are also links to the list of players both coaches have to pick from for the match.
