Ahly defeat Aswan 3-1 to close in on leaders Zamalek

Goals from veteran forward Kahraba, leading scorer Mohamed Sherif and Walter Bwalya helped Al Ahly to another Egyptian Premier League victory on Thursday, winning 3-1 at Aswan SC to move within three points of Zamalek at the top with one game still to make up. Kahraba has struggled for regular playing time this season but took advantage of his third straight start to open the scoring on a volley from a Hussein El Shahat pass in the 22nd minute.

Sherif made it his seventh goal of July by running onto an Ali Maâloul cross at the far post to finish inside the far post in the 66th minute to give Ahly a two-goal lead. Aswan’s Emmanuel Karbogi cut the lead in half late but Bwalya scored as a substitute for the second straight match in the final seconds to restore breathing room for Ahly.
