African champions Al Ahly suffered an end to their streak of five consecutive Egyptian Premier League titles this week with rivals Zamalek celebrating their rise back to the top, and Ahly are wasting no time in rebuilding their squad to try and get right back to the top. After a period of talk around a rumored move, South Africa national team star forward Percy Tau’s move to the Cairo club is reportedly on and set to be officially announced imminently. Tau spent the last four seasons on the books of English Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion, but only made six appearances in all competitions for the club the last season and a half, spending most of his time out on loan due to issues obtaining a work permit to play in English football.
Tau will be reunited with the coach from his days at Mamelodi Sundowns, Pitso Mosimane, as the talented 27-year-old looks to find regular playing time on the club front.
