FIFA’s proposal to change the scheduling of the World Cup to be played every two years instead of four has led to plenty of strong reactions, both negative and positive. Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe provided CAF’s position on the issue by advising that the football industry should keep an open mind and carefully consider all factors. CAF previously had provided a strong endorsement of the proposal with Motsepe stating that African football could be the “biggest beneficiary of a World Cup every two years”.
