Japan’s withdrawal as hosts of the FIFA Club World Cup later this year is confirmed, and South Africa is looking to step in as a replacement following the BBC’s reporting that South Africa Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan will meet with FIFA top brass regarding the potential change in venue. SAFA CEO Tebogo Motlanthe confirmed the interest of South Africa’s footballing body and that Jordaan is meeting with FIFA president Gianni Infantino and FIFA Secretary Fatma Samoura in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia while figuring out further details.
