Guinea coach Naba Diawara is the first manager to name his final Africa Cup of Nations squad following his roster announcement on Tuesday. Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita highlights the 27-player list, which is composed of players based in Europe and two players based at Guinean power club Horoya. 18-year-old Red Bull Leipzig midfielder Ilaix Moriba is also an interesting name, with the Conakry-born player switching his allegiance to Guinea after representing Spain at U-17 level. Moriba is a highly regarded prospect who has drawn comparisons to Paul Pogba and began his career at FC Barcelona before moving to Leipzig for the 2021-22 season.
Coach Diawara was named to lead to Guinea at the AFCON following a disastrous FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, which resulted in the dismissal of previous manager Didier Six. Guinea will be expecting to advance out of Group B with games against group members Senegal, Zimbabwe and Malawi.
