Motsepe greenlights AFCON in Cameroon despite covid concerns and CWC date clash

CAF president Patrice Motsepe flew into Cameroon this week for an urgent meeting regarding whether the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations will be played in January, and affirmed that the tournament will proceed as planned. After media reports suggested that the tournament would be cancelled due to the rise in Covid-19 Omicron variant infections and news that Cameroon’s preparations were insufficient, Motsepe insisted that the tournament would be a success and stated what CAF’s procedures will be regarding fan attendance and Covid-19 testing.
