Afcon 2021: Covid hits Comoros before crunch Cameroon clash

Comoros goalkeeper Salim Ben Boina’s injury following an André Ayew challenge in their Group C matchup may be more catastrophic to the team than initially thought. Les Coelacanthes advanced to the Round of 16 as a result of their 3-2 victory over the Black Stars, but the team received news that their two other goalkeepers have tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of their matchup against hosts Cameroon. CAF rules state that if a team has a minimum of eleven players who test negative, than the team must play meaning that Comoros might be forced to use a field player in the goalkeeper position.
