A large group of political leaders and African footballing celebrities were on hand to attend the inauguration of Senegal’s brand new stadium, the Diamniadio Olympic Stadium, this week followed by an exhibition match featuring many past stars of African football. The 50,000 capacity ground will soon see its first action when Senegal takes part in the final round of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification as it will host the second leg in the two-legged tie against Egypt. Following the inauguration, a team of Senegalese legends draw 1-1 against an African legends team.
