After publicizing their grievances with how the Egypt national team was treated in Senegal during the second leg of their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff defeat against the Lions of Teranga, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has asked FIFA for a replay of the match. “If we lost in normal ways, we would congratulate them and leave without complaint…we insisted that the game was played in a terrorist atmosphere”, stated EFA president Gamal Allam to Egyptian television.
The complaints from the Egyptian team are well documented at this point and Allam added that an Egyptian delegation will bring their case directly to FIFA president Gianni Infantino at the FIFA Congress. Ahram has more on the continuing developments below.
