Morocco national team manager Vahid Halilhodžić has a history of clashing with players due to his cantankerous persona at times and it appears that his inability to get along with all members of his team may get in the way of him being the Atlas Lions coach at the 2022 FIFA World Cup despite qualifying the team for the competition. In particular, Halilhodžić’s relationship or lack thereof with former Moroccan stars Hakim Ziyech and Noussair Mazraoui may see the Bosnian relieved of his duties because both players refused to play for the Atlas Lions earlier in World Cup qualifying and now the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) is looking to bring both players back to increase the quality of the squad for Qatar 2022.
La Gazette du Fennec has more in the link below, stating that current Raja Casablanca manager Walid Regragui appears to be the favorite to take over if Halilhodžić does not remain coach. After qualifying four different nations for the last four World Cups, this would be the third time Halilhodžić would not be kept on with Algeria the only nation out of Ivory Coast, Japan and now Morocco to keep him as coach for the final competition.
