Raja CA file complaint over controversial refereeing in CAFCL quarterfinal first leg against Al Ahly

Video Assistant Refere (VAR) is meant to ensure that the officials get the decision right but viewers were left bemused on Saturday after Egypt’s Al Ahly were awarded a controversial penalty kick against Morocco’s Raja CA that led to the opening goal. Initially a penalty was not called when a cross from Ahly was deflected in the penalty area by Raja’s Mohamed Al Makaazi but Jean Jacques Ndala Ngambo was called to the monitor and changed the call to a penalty kick even though the slow motion replay appeared to show that the ball deflected off Al Makaazi’s leg.

Raja have filed an official statement and complaint regarding the refereeing decisions and KingFut has more details on the Moroccan club’s statement in the link below. Further down is video of the incident in question.
