Ghanaians abroad: Semenyo, Kyereh and Paintsil score

Multiple Ghanaian players abroad found the net over the weekend in European action with Ghana-eligible young forward Antoine Semenyo, Genk’s Joseph Paintsil and playmaker Daniel-Kofi Kyereh each making valuable contributions. Bristol City’s Semenyo, English born but eligible for Ghana, scored his second goal in his last two games as Bristol thrashed Hull City 5-0 on Saturday, maintaining The Robins’ 17th place standing in the English Championship.

Paintsil came on as a substitute in Genk’s 4-2 victory over KV Mechelen, scoring the final goal and moving his side to second place in the Jupiler Pro League’s UEFA Conference League playoff round. Kyereh converted a penalty kick to give St. Pauli the lead but his side conceded a late equalizer to draw Nürnberg at home, missing out on points in their push for promotion from the 2. Bundesliga.

Samuel Obeng’s goal opened the scoring for Real Oviedo as the 24-year-old now has seven goals this season in La Liga2, leaving Oviedo in the final promotion playoff spot currently. Another performance to note is that of attacker Bernard Tekpetey, who tallied a goal and assist this weekend for Bulgarian champions Ludogorets and is in the midst of an excellent run of form.
