Mohammed Salisu attributes recent struggles to Ramadan

Southampton’s poor recent English Premier League form has coincided with a decline in the performances of Ghanaian center back Mohammed Salisu. The 23-year-old has had an excellent season but after a poor outing as the Saints suffered a 6-0 drubbing against Chelsea, Salisu was dropped for two matches before returning for Southampton’s 2-2 draw at Bright & Hove Albion where he scored an own goal.

Salisu kept his place for the 1-2 defeat to Crystal Palace over the weekend but attributed his downturn in form to playing while observing Ramadan. The Kumasi native’s comments about his recent performances, his season in general and the approaching final stretch are below in the link from Joy FM. Southampton currently sit in 15th position on 40 points with three games left in their league campaign.
