New Rwanda coach Ferrer names first squad for opening 2023 AFCON qualifying matches

Rwanda coach Carlos Ferrer will have difficult and pressure-filled fixtures to deal with right from the start of his spell as manager of the Amavubi and this week the Spanish technician named his first squad for Rwanda’s opening 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Senegal and Mozambique. ASFAR Rabat left back Emmanuel Imanishimwe, central midfielder Djihad Bizimana and talented young APR FC forward Lague Byiringiro headline the team while captain Haruna Niyonzima and starting center back Abdul Rwatubyaye are set to miss out.

Rwanda will play Mozambique for a road fixture in Johannesburg, South Africa on June 2 before traveling back to Rwanda to host defending AFCON champions Senegal in a difficult Group L that also includes Benin.
