Ivory Coast have already qualified for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations as hosts but the Elephants will take part in the qualification campaign as a member of Group H to take part in competitive matches. The Elephants and newly hired manager Jean-Louis Gasset announced their squad for the opening qualifying matches with Ivory Coast playing against Zambia at home on June 3 before traveling to Johannesburg, South Africa for a road match against Lesotho on June 9.
English Premier League players Wilfried Zaha, Nicolas Pépé and Maxwell Cornet are in the squad as well as Ajax Amsterdam striker Sebastien Haller and newly crowned Turkish Cup winner Max Gradel of Sivasspor. Ibrahim Sangaré and Franck Kessié will be the creative forces in the midfield while Serge Aurier, Ghislain Konan and Odilon Kossounou are the names to watch in the defense.
