Senegal manager Aliou Cissé announced his final squad for when the Teranga Lions open up 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying with games against Benin and Rwanda in Group L. The defending AFCON champions will host Benin on June 4 in Dakar before travelling for a road match against Rwanda three days later. Senegal are widely expected to top the group which also includes Mozambique.
Star players Sadio Mané, Édouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly and Idrissa Gana Gueye are all involved as well as Abdou Diallo and Ismaïla Sarr. Three new faces are in the squad with an opportunity to make their first appearances for Senegal. Italian-based forward Demba Seck, fullback Alpha Diounkou and Sheffield United’s French-born midfielder Iliman Ndiaye are the new players with Ndiaye being called in following a standout season in England’s second tier EFL Championship.
