Uganda manager Sredojevic focuses on Wednesday AFCON qualifier against Niger following poor performance against Algeria

“For us Afcon qualifiers starts on Wednesday,” stated Uganda national team manager Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic after the Cranes were dominated in a 2-0 defeat at Algeria on Saturday. Uganda struggled to keep the ball with only about 20 per cent of the possession and a mere 85 completed passes in Oran but were in the match for long stretches, even having an opportunity to level the match in the first half when Farouk Miya’s penalty kick was saved.

The Cranes host Niger in their next matchup on Wednesday and three points will be crucial to keep Uganda from having to play catch up in Group F. Sredojevic and his tactics were skewered on social media following the result against Algeria and while there is plenty of time for his side to gain a foothold in the group, concerns continue to rise over a distinct lack of goals during Sredojevic’s reign as Uganda manager.
