Samuel Eto’o lashes out at Cameroon team following AFCONQ victory over Burundi

Cameroon had little trouble getting by Burundi in 2023 AFCON qualifying on Thursday, winning 1-0 in the road fixture that took place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. However, after the Indomitable Lions failed to finish many clear opportunities they were subjected to rigorous criticism from Cameroonian legend and current President of the Cameroonian Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o.

In a speech to the players in the locker room following the match Eto’o stated “I am not happy. I am not happy at all… I don’t care who is in front of you, you have to do the job.” Eto’o referred to his past experiences of missing out on the FIFA World Cup with Cameroon and asserted that the Indomitable Lions will not lack team chemistry or the proper motivation while under his watch. Cameroon’s next two 2023 AFCON qualifiers will be against Namibia in September as the team looks to top Group C as expected.
