Pitso Mosimane reflects positively on time at Al Ahly in video statement on club’s website

The end of Al Ahly manager Pitso Mosimane’s tenure at the successful Egyptian club came to an end this week but there are no hard feelings between Mosimane and his now former employer as the South African gaffer reflected positively on his time with Ahly. Mosimane parted ways with the club following a storm of criticism from former players and supporters for failing to guide Ahly past Morocco’s Wydad AC for the club’s third straight CAF Champions League title. However, the accomplished manager praised the mutual respect between he and the club, stating that “normally when the teams part ways with coaches it’s either the coach is not happy or the club is not happy, but I’ve never seen a special arrangement like this one where we feel and respect each other for parting”.

Mosimane also reflected on his favorite moments with the club, pointing to the 2019-20 CAF Champions League final when his team topped Ahly’s eternal rivals Zamalek in a tie labeled the “Derby of the Century” as his favorite. Rumors are linking Mosimane to Middle Eastern football but his management denied that any agreements have been signed and that he has no shortage of clubs and national teams who are vying for his signature.
