After a brief spell in charge that lasted twelve games, Algerian club ES Sétif decided to let Serbian coach Darko Novic’s contract expire without renewing. The 50-year-old former Libya national team manager got off to a dream start with the club by guiding the Black Eagles to a shock 1-0 road victory over Tunisian club Espérance in the second leg of their CAF Champions League quarterfinal to lead Sétif to the semifinals. However, a decisive defeat to Egypt’s Al Ahly in the semifinals along with a poor stretch in domestic league play resulted in Sétif failing to qualify for CAF club competition next season.
Novic leaves with a record of six wins, five defeats and two draws while with Sétif. The club announced their decision on social media and are on the search for a new manager to lead the club in the 2022-23 season.
