Cameroon goalkeeper Onana completes move to Inter Milan

After a difficult season that saw him struggle to reclaim his starting spot, Cameroon national team goalkeeper André Onana completed a free transfer to Italian Serie A side Inter Milan this week from Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam. The 26-year-old only made ten appearances during the 2021-22 season for Ajax mostly due to a long-term ban that came from a positive test for performance enhancing drugs. Onana started all games for Cameroon at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations that was hosted by the country and will move to Italian football after spending his entire professional club career at Ajax.

Onana made 148 league appearances at Ajax and 214 appearances in all competitions over the six seasons he spent with the club. He has made 30 appearances for the Cameroon senior national team and was a graduate of the Samuel Eto’o Academy headed by the current president of the Cameroon Football Federation before moving to FC Barcelona to continue his youth career.
