Bad news continues for Al Ahly with Sherif and Kouka ruled out for remainder of season

Al Ahly suffered a big injury blow to go along with their 2020-21 Egypt Cup final defeat to rivals Zamalek on Thursday with the news that forward Mohamed Sherif will be out for the remainder of the season. The 2020-21 Egyptian Premier League’s leading scorer tore his groin muscle in the 2-1 defeat to Zamalek and ends his season with 32 appearances and 13 goals between league play and CAF Champions League competition.

In addition, talented young midfielder Ahmed Nabil Kouka will be out for the rest of the season as well due to a hamstring injury. The 21-year-old central player enjoyed a run of starts in the final days of Pitso Mosimane’s managerial spell at Ahly, ending his season with eight appearances. Ahly will enjoy the return of foreign attackers Percy Tau and Luís Miquissone, however, who manager Ricardo Soares will look forward to having available as the Red Devils attempt a final push for the Egyptian Premier League title.
