Ghana national team left back Mensah joins Ligue 1’s Auxerre

After experiencing relegation from France’s top division while on loan with Bordeaux last season, Ghanaian left back Gideon Mensah will get another shot in Ligue 1 following the completion of a permanent transfer from Red Bull Salzburg to newly promoted AJ Auxerre. The 24-year-old joins on a three-year deal after four loan spells away from the Austrian Bundesliga club, spending time in the top divisions of Belgian, Austrian and Portuguese football in addition to his time with Bordeaux last season.

Mensah has made eleven appearances for the Ghana national team and his latest transfer will keep him in the running for the starting left back spot on the Black Stars as they prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Pan-Africa Football scouted Mensah during his time with Zulte Waregem in Belgium and his scouting report is below.
