Simba Queens shutout She Corporate to confirm place at CAF Women’s Champions League

Tanzanian club Simba Queens will represent the CECAFA region at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League after defeating Ugandan side She Corporate in the final of the CECAFA qualifying competition at the Azam Complex on Saturday. Vivian Corazone converted from the penalty spot after Burundi national team star Asha Djafari was taken down inside the penalty area immediately after the second half kick off.

Simba Queens will have an opportunity to make an impression at the second edition of the showcase for African women’s club football, joining defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies as well as hosts AS FAR of Morocco. Egypt’s Wadi Degla, COSAFA regional winners Green Buffaloes and Liberian club Determine Girls FC will also be at the competition set to take place starting in October. The representatives for WAFU-Zone B and UNIFFAC are still to be determined which will complete the field.
