Friendlies: Morocco dominate Chile, Ghana overwhelmed by Brazil

Friday featured some of the major friendly exhibition matchups featuring African national teams during the international break with many eager to see how a new look Ghana side would fare against Brazil. The Black Stars struggled to establish any sort of rhythm against A Seleção who dominated from the early stages and struck twice through set pieces on their way to a 3-0 victory. Marquinhos nodded in a Raphinha corner kick and Richarlison scored off two assists from Neymar to put Ghana down three goals by halftime before a somewhat better second half saw Black Stars debuts for forwards Iñaki Williams and Antoine Semenyo as well as defenders Mohammed Salisu and Tariq Lamptey.

Morocco were the major winners on Friday with a 2-0 domination of Chile in Barcelona, Spain. The highly anticipated return of Hakim Ziyech and managing debut of Walid Regragui was a smashing success for the Atlas Lions, who won through a second half penalty kick from Sofiane Boufal and a debut goal from former German youth international and Sampdoria midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri. Algeria faced a tough Guinea side at home in Oran but edged the Syli National 1-0 through a 79th minute winner from Islam Slimani.

A relaxed Egypt team cruised to a 3-0 shutout of Niger with Mohamed Salah scoring two goals and Mostafa Mohamed scoring from an assist by Zamalek midfielder Emam Ashour. Bertrand Traoré provided a moment of magic to lift Burkina Faso over DR Congo in a 1-0 victory while Cape Verde defeated Bahrain 2-1 and El Bilal Touré gave Mali an early strike in their 1-0 shutout of Zambia. Rwanda and Equatorial Guinea played to a 0-0 draw in an all-African matchup.
