Former Tunisia boss Kebaier becomes new Raja CA manager

Two Tunisian managers created headlines in North African football with their latest moves over the weekend with Faouzi Benzarti and Mondher Kebaier revealing their next stops. Benzarti, the 72-year-old legendary tactician, mutually parted ways with Moroccan giants Raja CA after only three matches in the 2022-23 Botola Pro season but has moved on to Algeria where he has taken over at MC Alger. MCA have struggled so far in the 2022-23 Ligue 1 Professionnelle with only two goals in four matches, leaving them in tenth place with five points. It will be Benzarti’s first stop in Algerian football in a managerial career that has spanned over forty years.

Replacing Benzarti at Raja CA will be compatriot Mondher Kebaier, who will also be attempting to help his new club bounce back from a shaky start in domestic league play. The 52-year-old is taking on his first job in Moroccan football after about thirty months spent leading the Tunisia national team. Raja have two points from their opening three matches in the new Botola Pro season and will soon be embarking on their 2022-23 CAF Champions League campaign with a matchup against Nigerien club Nigelec in two weeks.
