Two matchdays are complete at the championship playoff “Super 6” for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after Monday’s action at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos and there is no clear leader so far. Rivers United were the only team to emerge victorious from the opening set of matches but the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinalists lost that advantage on Monday following a 2-2 draw with Remo Stars. An incredible finish saw two goals in the final three minutes of second half stoppage time as Rivers answered back quickly through Abegunrin Lukman to save a point after Olamilekan Adebayo appeared to clinch a late victory for Remo Stars.
Enyimba were the team to benefit from the sharing of spoils between Rivers and Remo Stars. The People’s Elephant moved level with Rivers on four points with a 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars. Emeka Obioma snuck in to head in his second goal from two Super 6 matches with a 16th minute winner, bringing his season total to 16 goals in 19 matches in the current campaign.
Bendel Insurance joined Remo Stars with two points from two matches with a 1-1 result against Sunshine Stars in the final match of the day. Divine Nwachukwu gave the Benin City club the lead inside ten minutes but Udom Ekerette equalized for Sunshine Stars in the second half for their first point of the Super 6.
