Al Ahly are now concentrating on finishing as champions of the 2022-23 Egyptian Premier League season and returned from their CAF Champions League triumph to defeat relegated Haras El Hodood by a 3-0 score on Thursday. An early own goal gave Ahly the lead in Alexandria and second half goals from Ahmed Abdelkader and Taher Mohamed finished up a routine victory for the newly crowned African club champions.
With the victory, Ahly move back to the top of the Premier League table with one point separating The Red Devils from Pyramids FC. However the closest competitors for the title have played five more matches than Ahly who are set to confirm another title if they avoid a complete meltdown.
Ahly will now begin a stretch of five matches over fifteen days beginning with a match on Sunday against second division side Suez SC in the Egypt Cup. Highlights from the victory on Thursday are below.
