The top division of DR Congo, the Linafoot, continued on with its 2023-24 season this week and the cream is rising to the top. Congolese top clubs are moving up the table with DC Motema Pembe, Saint-Éloi Lupopo and TP Mazembe all undefeated in the early stage of the group stage with twenty teams divided into two groups. Kinshasa top club AS Vita Club are recovering after a defeat to begin their campaign to join their rivals, earning two victories over the last week.
VClub bounced back with victories over Aigles du Congo and Céleste FC, winning both matches by a 2-0 score with Céleste their latest victim on Tuesday. Norberto Kiatalua and Germain Sonhaye scored the goals for The Black Dolphins who took advantage of matches against weaker clubs to gather momentum in Group B. DC Motema Pembe are the current leaders in Group B after defeating Dauphins Noirs 2-0 to reach thirteen points from five matches.
Mazembe were not in action this week and Saint-Éloi Lupopo took advantage to jump to the top of Group A. The Railway Workers overcame a one-goal deficit to defeat Groupe Bazano 3-1 away from home and move to a perfect twelve points from four matches. The club from Lubumbashi is joined by Mazembe, Lubumbashi Sport and Blessing FC of Kolwezi in the top four positions of Group A.
