Andre Ayew: Ghana captain is happy with his journey at Swansea

Ghana national team attacker and captain André Ayew is focused on one thing currently and that is guiding his club side Swansea City back to the English Premier League after suffering through relegation with the team from Wales in the 2017-18 season. The man known as “Dede” in Ghana provided a moment of magic in the first leg of Swansea’s EFL Championship promotion playoff semi-final first leg against Barnsley by curling a beautiful effort for the game’s only goal. Now at 31 years of age, Ayew reflects to BBC Sport Africa’s Rahman Osman on spending the last couple of seasons in England’s second-tier and facing criticism for staying with Swansea instead of trying to force a move to the English Premier League or another top division in Europe.

Since Swansea’s relegation to the EFL Championship, Ayew has contributed 31 goals in 86 appearances in two seasons while being the club’s most important player and the Black Stars’ fierce leader on the pitch when reporting for international duty.
