The CAF Super Cup is set for kick off on Friday in Doha, Qatar with CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly encountering the winners of the CAF Confederation Cup, Morocco’s RS Berkane. Ahly’s schedule has been beyond exhausting with the last few months featuring games every three or four days due to the amount of competitions they are participating in, and manager Pitso Mosimane acknowledged that Friday’s match will be very difficult due to having a squad that has been stretched to its limits.
Berkane manager Juan Pedro Benali did not set any lofty expectations but mentioned that his team has had enough time to prepare for the big match. The Moroccan side have had a difficult season with goals hard to come by, sitting in 11th place in the Botola Pro and having already been eliminated from this season’s CAF Confederation Cup in the group stage. Captain Mohamed Aziz stated that facing Africa’s Club of the Century is always a difficult prospect but that the team will be ready to make it tough for Ahly to add another trophy to their list of honors.
