Kelechi Nwakali’s role in the Nigeria national team continued to grow at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with appearances in all three of the Super Eagles’ group stage games, but a late return to La Liga 2 side Huesca has his club future in the air. Following an illness that required him to delay his flight back, Huesca attempted to offload the 23-year-old midfielder on loan but after failing to move Nwakali during the January transfer window, the relationship between Nwakali and his club is quite contentious currently.
