The Ghana national team’s struggles in front of goal continued at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and the Black Stars will need one of their forwards to step up in the absence of talisman André Ayew for a crucial 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff tie against rivals Nigeria. Veteran Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew is the most likely candidate to start but has only scored two goals over the last two seasons for Palace and has failed to tally for Ghana since qualifying for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
AS Roma 19-year-old Felix-Afena Gyan is a promising candidate but has not scored for his club since November 2021 while German-based forwards Kwasi Okyere Wriedt and Christopher Antwi-Adjei are also options. Joy FM goes through each of Ghana’s four strikers and how they have performed at club level this season.
