The transfer rumors and buzz surrounding Morocco midfielder Azzedine Ounahi continues to intensify as clubs from Europe’s top leagues pursue the Angers player who was a breakout star at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Angers, currently at the bottom of the table in France’s Ligue 1, have set a price tag reported to range from €25 million-€40 million on the 22-year-old native of Casablanca who has been an important member of the team since arriving in the summer of 2021.
Media outlets are reporting that English Premier League side Leicester City, Napoli of Italy’s Serie A and Spanish La Liga club Almería are the teams that have been pursuing Ounahi. Football Italia reports that Napoli have submitted a bid and are leading the race for Ounahi’s signature but Leicester have also been scouting Ounahi since before the World Cup and have the resources to meet the demands of Angers. 90min reports that Angers are looking to have Ounahi stay on loan until the end of the 2022-23 Ligue 1 season as the club continue their battle against relegation. Either way it appears that Angers are intent on obtaining the maximum possible fee for their star as the January transfer window roars into action.
