FKF Cup: Domestic double in sight for Tusker after Brewers advance to final

Kenya’s FKF Cup, also known as the MozzartBet Cup, completed its semifinal round over the weekend and the Brewers of Tusker FC have an excellent opportunity to complete a season of domination in Kenyan football. Erick Otieno headed in a cross to provide the winning goal for Tusker in the 90th minute from a 1-0 semifinal victory over Ulinzi Stars. The important matches continue to come for the Brewers who will face FKF Premier League title rivals Gor Mahia in a massive showdown next weekend. Tusker currently lead the league by one point.

In the other semifinal, Kakamega Homeboyz progressed with a 2-1 victory over AFC Leopards. Moses Shuma headed in a cross soon after the half hour mark for Homeboyz before Kevin Amwayi doubled the lead less than a minute later. Cliff Nyakeya scored the lone goal for Leopards in the final minutes but it was too late for a comeback. Homeboyz will look to gain a measure of revenge against Tusker in the final after they were overtaken by the reigning champions for the title in the final matches last season.

Highlights from both semifinal matches are below. The final between Tusker and Kakamega Homeboyz is set to take place on June 24.
