Abde Ezzalzouli is the featured player in our recap of goals and assists from African players abroad in Europe this week. On loan at fellow La Liga club Osasuna from FC Barcelona, the Morocco national team attacker is enjoying an impressive 2022-23 campaign with the Basque region side and scored both of Osasuna’s goals in a 2-1 victory over Elche on Saturday. After struggling for playing time with Barcelona the loan is giving Ezzalzouli’s club career a boost as well as his national team prospects.
Ezzalzouli is joined by Ghana’s Jordan Ayew and Nigeria national team forward Samuel Chukwueze as Africans who scored twice for their clubs over the weekend. Chukwueze was crucial to Villarreal’s upset victory over Spanish giants Real Madrid with his late match winner a thing of beauty for supporters of the Yellow Submarine. Ayew tripled his goal total for the season in Crystal Palace’s thrashing of Leeds United, giving the London club a big boost in their attempts to avoid relegation.
